The Sauna Landscape

The large sauna landscape of the Taunus Thermal Baths awaits you with a great variety of attractions.

Fans of the Finnish sauna now have the opportunity of taking a sauna in an original Finnish blockhouse sauna, designed as in the country of its origin, at the Taunus Thermal Baths sauna landscape. These saunas have a unique construction principle based on the unconventional Finnish sauna philosophy. Four Finnish experts have put all of their creativity into these blockhouse saunas that are situated in a charming, faithfully reproduced Finnish sauna landscape at our thermal baths. This is as close as you can get to having a holiday in Finland without actually going there. The experts have really thought of everything for these blockhouse saunas during the construction of the thermal baths so that the original Finnish sauna pleasure with all of its health advantages is a pleasant relaxation in the sauna landscape.

Building in a way that promotes good health is an art that not everyone can master. In a sauna landscape, this involves the smallest details. Wood is not all the same and not every heater is the same. Both must be exactly coordinated so that a heat benefiting both the respiration and the skin is produced. In the Finnish sauna, a climate is created that facilitates easier, more pleasant and quicker sweating. The even and well-dosed circulatory stimulation in the Taunus Thermal Baths sauna landscape supports an improvement of the physical constitution. The sauna houses in the sauna landscape are built of hand-finished Finnish pine roundwood trunks. There is no artificial ventilation. In addition, there is no artificial insulation, as in the German saunas within the thermal baths. There also are no vapour barriers, which ensures a constant exchange of the inside air with the outside air through the Finnish roundwood trunks. This allows these saunas in the sauna landscape to breathe while the wood radiates a pleasant fragrance. This is an organic sauna pleasure that gives the body and mind a special sense of wellbeing. Discover and experience the fascination of this original Finnish sauna in the sauna landscape of our thermal baths.

In addition to the blockhouse saunas with the health-promoting pouring of water onto hot rocks, our sauna landscape has a special little Taunus Thermal Baths sauna landscape – just for women. Even if the appeal of the large, mixed sauna landscape in the thermal baths can hardly be outdone – the women's sauna simply has a special atmosphere. This is where women can relax by themselves.

The great demand for a separate sauna landscape in the thermal baths was the deciding factor for designing this area in a generous and beautiful way. This small women's sauna area offers two saunas with different temperatures, a small sauna yard, a cosy resting area, as well as some tanning lights to create an intimate character. It goes without saying that the women have their own plunge bath in the Taunus Thermal Baths sauna landscape as an additional pleasure after the sauna session. On the connected roof terrace – just for women – they can also enjoy a sunny hour in the open in summer.

Feeling the soothing power of heat means that it is good for the body and warms the soul. Eleven different saunas invite you to active relaxation in your leisure time. The even and well-dosed circulatory stimulation n in the saunas of these thermal baths improves your physical constitution.

Yin and Yang Sauna approx. 95-105 degrees C

According to the teachings of Chinese Taoism, yin and yang are the two basic forces in the cosmos. These two opposites are interdependent and complement each other.

Yin, "the shady side of the sunlit mountain," represents the inner world, cold, paleness, emptiness, darkness, night, the quiet and the feminine.

In contrast to it, yang is "the sunny side of the mountain" and is associated with the outside world, abundance, heat, reddening, the day, brightness, activity and the masculine.

Yin is water, yang is fire. Yin and yang are visible in all activities of human beings and nature. This also applies to the sauna session. Here hot and cold are interdependent and complement each other because only through the opposing nature of the employed means can the sauna session completely develop its effects.

By pouring water and essential oils on the hot stones of the sauna heater, the humidity in the sauna room is abruptly increased. The result is additional heat stimulation for the skin of the sauna visitor. The steam is distributed throughout the sauna room by our bath attendants waving or flapping a towel. This creates an intensification of the heat stimulation.

Feng Shui Sauna 95-105 degrees C

Translated literally, Feng Shui means "wind and water." The wind symbolises the power and energy of the heaven and water is the force of the earth.

One of the goals in Feng Shui is to create harmony. It expresses itself by bringing colours, materials and forms, meaning everything that surrounds human beings, into a balanced relationship. This is called a dynamic equilibrium.

By pouring water and essential oils on the hot stones of the sauna heater, the humidity in the sauna room is abruptly increased.
